In this session, participants will learn about the three main sexual violence prevention initiatives happening in Kentucky: Green Dot, Shifting Boundaries, and community-level prevention. The presentation will give a brief overview of each prevention strategy and describe how the strategies are being implemented to keep Kentucky’s students and communities safe from violence. Participants will leave the session with a greater understating of the prevention work happening in Kentucky as well as ways they can get involved in supporting prevention.
Presenter: Astraea Howard (she/her) Prevention Coordinator, Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs
Astraea Howard (she/her) is the Prevention Coordinator at the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP), the state coalition of Kentucky’s 13 Regional Rape Crisis Centers. In this role, Ms. Howard oversees and supports the implementation of sexual violence prevention programming across the commonwealth. She enjoys working with prevention educators to enable them to implement effective and impactful prevention programming in their schools and communities. Ms. Howard is passionate about prevention because she believes that if each of us do our part, we can truly see a world free from violence.
