The Kentucky Alcohol Policy Alliance (KAPA) in partnership with 11 Regional Prevention Centers conducted a brief survey to gather public opinion from Kentucky Alcohol Licensees (servers and sellers) around Responsible Beverage Server (RBS) Training.  

The survey was conducted via mail and online utilizing Survey Monkey, and had a 5.1% completion rate (198 surveys completed statewide/ 3906 total Kentucky liquor retail establishments) .   57 specific Kentucky counties completed the survey.  Due to the low overall response rate it was determined further study would be necessary to form any statistically significant conclusions.  Thank you to everyone who participated.

The goals of RBS Training are to educate servers and sellers in practical approaches that are effective in any situation.  The approaches are designed to:

  • Recognize signs of intoxication
  • Prevent alcohol sales to minors
  • Intervene with patrons who are already intoxicated
  • Increase knowledge of alcohol laws and responsibilities

By combining these approaches with expertise, servers and sellers will be able to:

  • Reduce liquor liability exposure
  • Enhance customer service
  • Enhance business

Establishments may obtain RBS Training through programs such as Server Training in Alcohol Regulations (STAR), Training for Intervention Procedures (TIPS), ServSafe, or an alcohol training provided by your company.
